About Course
With the introduction of Benedict’s Law, it is now a statutory requirement for schools to ensure that staff are appropriately trained in allergy management.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that forms part of the First Aid Suite of qualifications. It is specifically designed to meet the staff training requirement of Benedict’s Law. This qualification provides effective allergy awareness training to staff, helping schools to fulfil their responsibilities in supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of children and young people with allergies.
This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:
- Allergy safety in schools, statutory guidance for governing bodies of maintained schools and proprietors of academies in England
- Current best practice for the management of allergies, anaphylaxis, and asthma in educational environments
- Input from subject matter experts in allergy awareness, safeguarding, and emergency response.
This QA qualification is:
- For all staff, governors and volunteers working in schools and educational settings who have responsibility for the care, supervision, and safety of children and young people
- Designed to develop learner autonomy, enabling staff, governors, and volunteers to recognise allergic reactions, make informed decisions, and respond promptly and confidently to emergencies such as anaphylaxis and asthma attacks, including the use of spare adrenaline auto-injectors and reliever inhalers in line with current UK Government guidance
