About Course

Duration of Course: Total 1 day (in person)

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

During this 1 day course, learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding and minor injuries.

This regulated qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

  • The Resuscitation Council (UK)
  • A distinguished panel of experts in emergency medical care

This QA qualification is:

  • For people who deal with first aid at work enabling them to be emergency first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
  • Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at

Work (EFAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the training and be able to perform practical tasks at floor level. There are no other formal entry requirements but we strongly recommend that Learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Assessment Methods

4 x Practical assessments

1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper).

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified

How long does the qualification last

The certificate date is the date the Learner achieves the final unit. This qualification is valid for 3 years. The Learner needs to re-take the qualification and the assessments on or before the end of the 3 years to remain qualified.

After I have Booked

Once you have booked the course, you will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours. This will provide the details of the training course and venue address if it is face to face at one of our venues. You will receive joining instructions if it is online and also information about the course and what to bring on the day.

Who teaches on the course

This course is delivered by experienced, expert first aid instructors and assessors – all of whom have regulated training and assessor awards.

How many people will be on the course

We teach up to 12 people with the average being 6 trainees per session.

How long is the course?

It is a day course from 9am-5pm

How long does it take for my certificate?

Once the course is completed and passed you will have your e- certificate within 2 weeks as it goes through our centres verification process.

This Emergency First Aid at Work course equips attendees to act confidently as first aiders in low-hazard workplaces, such as offices, shops or gyms. It covers basic life-saving techniques and minor injury and illness care.
